ORC Week 5: Beams + Mantel

Two more big projects are complete for the One Room Challenge!

This picture pretty much sums up my enthusiasm for the progress update this week! (Thank you to my four year old for snapping it today!)

It’s Week 5 of the One Room Challenge with Better Homes and Gardens. The final reveal is June 24th which seems sooo close already.

I’ve tackled most of the larger projects and I could not have done them without the help of my woodworker. He just finished the installation on the ceiling beams last night and WOW!! I can’t even describe how much I love them!! Our beams are purely decorative but adding them really adds drama to the room.

The other big project was the mantel redesign, which I had been dreaming about since we moved into our house 4 years ago. My woodworker Eric Ward nailed my vision and went above and beyond to make every detail perfect.

I’m going to write a separate posts for each of these projects that will include ALL the details (deciding on stain color, helpful tips, selecting trim for the mantel and more) but for now…. here are a few pictures today on my phone of how everything is coming along ~

As always, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!!

Here is the view from our entryway.I love that you can see the beams right when you walk in our house.

And a close up of the mantel. Last week, I shared all about the framed wallpaper panels with plug in sconces, in case you missed it!

This is a favorite view of the mantel (black paint will be touched up;)

Here’s a close up of one of the beams. I love how the stain came out with the variation in color. This was the part I was most nervous about so it’s such a relief!

There’s 2 weeks left to finish up a few more of the projects, including a custom coffee table with a faux grasscloth accent, window treatments, styling, etc. We also just had the TV wall wallpapered today and the TV frame is being created right now! I can’t wait for that.

Here’s a recap of past posts and be sure to check out others participating in the One Room Challenge here.

Week 1: I’m Joining the One Room Challenge!

Week 2: Adding Electrical and a Crystoroma Chandelier

Week 3: Design Plan Details

Week 4: Framed Wallpaper Panels with Lighting

Thank YOU all for following along!
