If you’ve been following along, you know a lot can change in a year!
Two years ago, after a lifetime in Chicago, we took a leap and moved to South Carolina to build a semi-custom home, something we had dreamed about for so long.
Last month, we officially said goodbye to that new build in Summerville and made the move to Mount Pleasant, into a smaller, slightly older home that we already love. It was bittersweet leaving the home we had built and neighbors who had become friends, but we knew in our hearts it was time for a change.
We’re settling in quickly and already loving the coastal vibe (and lots of porch time). We’re closer to downtown now, which has been really nice, and this neighborhood just feels right. Bike rides and pool time have been on repeat, and it’s made all the difference that we already had a few friends here.
I also recently returned to real estate, something that’s been on my heart for years. I’m now a licensed Realtor in South Carolina!
If you’ve been here awhile you know years ago, I stepped away from the fast-paced world of leasing at Willis Tower in Chicago when my oldest daughter was born. That shift gave me the opportunity to grow an interior design business from home while raising our little ones. I loved that season of life, and it gave me the flexibility I needed.
Now feels like the right time to bring everything full circle. From my early career in luxury residential real estate to my design work with Shining on Design, I’m grateful to now help people navigate the buying and selling process across Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and Summerville.
After going through a major move ourselves, I know how much it helps to have someone who truly understands what that transition feels like. This was one of the best decisions we’ve made, and I can’t wait to help others relocate too.
My favorite part of this job so far though is getting homes ready to list. From simple design tweaks to full styling and marketing, this is where my background and attention to detail really come together.

I’ve joined Ever Haus Properties, a boutique real estate firm based in Charleston that specializes in residential real estate. My broker has been incredible – getting me up to speed quickly, answering every question, and truly one of the best mentors I could ask for. They also have a commercial side, which I love for the variety and opportunity it brings.
I’ll be sharing more weekly on Substack (find me @southhaus), including design ideas, local finds, and a behind-the-scenes look at life and real estate in the Lowcountry. It’s a space where home meets heart and where I can share the things I love most: coastal interiors, local gems, everyday style, and life as a Charleston mom of four.
