Looking Back at 2021

Happy New Year!

Keeping up with tradition, I’m sharing favorite posts from the past year. It’s always nice to recap highlights from the last 12 months and thank YOU all for being here with me on this journey ~

Every single comment, message, pin, share and “like” is truly appreciated and I feel so lucky to have this platform and encouragement from you, my readers. There are so many blogs nowadays so really, thank you for taking the time to visit mine 🙂

I originally started Shining on Design to mainly to share inspiration for home decor. It has definitely evolved since. The best thing about it for me is that I get to share my favorite finds and things I love with you. Whether it’s finding inspiration from places we visited, to the the washable rugs that we couldn’t live without or gift ideas… it always makes my day when I hear that you love these posts too.

I’ve been able to document so many family moments as well. Like how we celebrated Danny’s first birthday, to a long awaited family vacation at the cutest beach house ever.

My favorite home project of the year was our living room makeover for the One Room Challenge last Spring. It certainly was a challenge to get ALL of the projects done (installing beamsa new mantel, adding electricalcreating a coffee table, etc. ) all in just 7 weeks!

I hope to do this challenge again in 2022 if time allows. It may have to wait until the Fall but it is on my list of goals. Would you rather see a mini kitchen makeover or master bedroom overhaul? Both of these spaces are very much in need of a facelift.

2021 was filled with very little entertaining, but we did squeeze in a fun girls wine night, thanksgiving celebration, baby shower and a few backyard bbq‘s.

As for traveling, we waited a long time to to see extended family and visit more places. We went on a road trip for a good portion of July that included a trip to the Biltmore, and explored the Carolinas with the kids. We love North and South Carolina and plan to go again soon. Hopefully in 2022!

I also went on a few work trips to Atlanta, High Point Market and one locally in Chicago. Being selected as a Design Influencer for the High Point Market tour was a highlight of 2021 for sure.

I’ve had lots of questions about our white sofas lately so I have that on my list to write a more in depth post on. If there is anything else specific you would like to see more of in 2022, please send me a message and let me know. I love hearing from you!

I’m excited for what this next year has in store for all of us. I wish you all a safe, healthy and happy 2022!

I simply Love all the pictures of your home. From the master bedroom to the girls room, down the stair case walk of pictures, I am definitely going to copy that. The living room is beautiful, white is my favorite for furniture. The table I simply, simply, Love it. I have been Looking for one, but there so expensive. One day I will be able to afford it, but for now I will enjoy looking at yours. There are lots of ideas I can implement in My Home. Thank You so much for sharing your home with me.

Thank you SO much!! We had the coffee table custom made, which was actually more economical than some of the ones I have seen retail. I recommend reaching out to a local woodworker to see if you could go the same route! Or if you are local, I can put you in touch with ours 🙂
