Holiday Home Tour

Welcome to our home tour, all dressed up for the holidays!

This is one of my favorite posts of the entire year to put together. It’s always fun to decorate for the holidays, and to share our home and decorating ideas with you (while it’s all styled and photo ready, which usually doesn’t last too long in real life!).

I want to give a huge thank you to Tana, from Your Marketing BFF for inviting me to join this years holiday home tour blog hop, which inspired me to get our home decorated early. I am honored to be included in such a talented group of 12 bloggers this year on the tour. Be sure to check out their links below (you will likely recognize at least a few names on there!)

I wanted to keep everything simple, yet festive and cozy this year. Our living room turned out just as I had hoped with mostly neutral decor and pops of color here and there. This was my favorite room to decorate this year since we just redesigned it in the Spring for the One Room Challenge.

Christmas living room decor

It’s always exciting to take out the holiday decor from storage, and reuse old things in new ways.

The only new holiday decorations this year are those two small flocked trees next to the fireplace, which were Target finds that the girls helped pick out :).

The coffee table was custom made as part of our Living Room makeover and I am so glad to finally have a centerpiece to this room that I love. I had searched forever and The One Man Woodshop was able to make my vision for it come to life 🙌🏼. I added some holiday books and ornaments for decor (and put the glass back on it!). We had a reversible wood top shelf built because.. toddler stage.. was making me a little nervous. That will go back on soon I’m sure.

I love that the bottom and replacement top shelf are both reversible with one side grasscloth and one side painted white wood. It is functional for our everyday use and beautifully crafted.

On the mantel, I added some white berries to the floral arrangement we have year round, a few flocked stems picks vs garland, white trees and hung the stockings with command strips.

We usually put the tree next to our mantel but switched it up a bit this year. It always felt a little squished in the corner so putting it on the other side of the sofa kept the space feeling a little more open.

I love that when you walk in to our home, you are greeted with this view, below…

We have an open floor plan so you can see our main tree from the areas of the home we spend the most time in ` ~ one being the kitchen, which is hopefully our next big project!

We have 2 other trees too in the play room and front sitting room which I will share soon too. One the girls decorated with pink bows and oranges, and the other is our “crystal” tree inspired by the chandelier in the sunroom (which is now being used as our dining room).

I’m so glad we bought these rattan stools for our kitchen and the rattan bench for the dining room. They were two purchases that we use daily and love. I “dressed” them up with these handmade holiday bows from Made by Michelle on the stools and a cozy faux cowhide on the bench. I linked the velvet and striped ribbons in last years post. Both from Amazon. The kids all love to use this bench and the fur makes it extra cozy. We also have 4 slipcovered chairs that are washable.

With 4 small children, anything washable, durable (and affordable) is gold!

We have a “greenery table” this year, which literally keeps growing! It is filled with outdoor plants brought in for the season, herbs, monkey balls collected from neighborhood walks, and more. I added a few holiday touches like berries, mistletoe and ribbon too ~

We have been enjoying all the ambience that holiday decor brings, especially the star lights on our trees and automatic candles (they look so realistic these days!).

More on those coming soon, and the other spaces in our home I didn’t get to today! Thank you so much for stopping by and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you ❤️

    • 1.17.22

Thank you! It was custom made by our local woodworker. If you are local to Chicago, he will make you a similar one! I shared more details in a blog post if you search for “coffee table” ❤️
