I can’t believe summer is coming to an end already! We have been so blessed this year to be able to travel, explore new places and most importantly spend time with family and friends. We kicked off our summer with a trip to the cutest cottage in Union Pier, Michigan with good friends.
It was such a wonderful and relaxed getaway that I wanted to share some favorite pics and highlights. This is a great destination spot too if you are in the Midwest. It’s a quick drive from Chicago with plenty of beaches, restaurants, wineries and shopping.
Staying at the Leo Cottage was a highlight for me though! The cottage is darling. It’s designed by Kate Marker Interiors and is beautifully decorated. We booked the house over a year ago and since then it has been featured on HGTV and in Better Homes and Gardens magazine. The cottage isn’t huge but worked perfectly for our group of 2 families and 6 kids total. The bunk room was beyond cute and functionally could sleep all the kids if needed!
There were bikes to borrow, beach chairs. a hidden bar area, plenty of seating for dining, games and more at the cottage. The beach was just a couple minute walk away which is where we spent most of our time. The house also has a hot tub which we turned the heat down so all the kids could enjoy too.
Also if you are looking for a funny idea for your next trip, you’ll have to see what my friend and I surprised our husbands with (below!)

The master bedroom is so dreamy. I love all the rattan, whitewash and natural accents throughout the house ~
And that chandelier!

There’s a dining area/game area off the kitchen. The window here actually looks into the master bedroom. The design details (like how they hung this flag) are so fun to see. The main dining area is just stunning too ~

The bunk room with 2 full beds on the bottom and 2 twin on top.
Danny loved getting all the extra attention on the trip! He was the only boy hanging out with 5 girls ๐

The kitchen area and nook is so charming. We cooked breakfasts and lunches, then ordered dinner out. The Stray Dog in New Buffalo was so good that we had that two nights in a row.
This cabinet makes the perfect hidden bar. It was fully equipped and decorated with a fabulous wallpaper.

Here’s a peek at another guest room ~
And the garden shed..

This was Danny’s first vacation and he loved it! A local baby food company saw we were going out of town and generously shipped all the organic food for Danny. It made it so much easier on me ~ thank you Tiny Human Food!

Brooke and I snuck out for a drink at Round Barn winery~
And spent most our time outside on the beach, and in the backyard of the Leo Cottage ~

I had seen Pinterest Planning share this swimsuit idea last year and sent it to my friend right away! She ordered them for both of us to surprise our husbands (love her!). You can order these custom swim suits here for anyone interested! I think the kids loved it more than the husbands lol. Every time we have gone swimming since, they ask why I’m not wearing the daddy suit~

Sunsets over the water are the icing on the cake for me!
Can’t wait for another visit ๐ Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
