Welcome to our house tour part 2! In case you missed it, I posted a little while ago Part 1 which showed the downstairs of our little house in Geneva. Now I’ll take you upstairs where a couple of my favorite spaces in the house are!
Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and one bath. Our master bedroom, our daughter Taylor’s room and our guest room/office. Taylor’s room is pretty much the size of a large walk in closet but it is so cute! Let’s start with our bedroom… which took forever to put together…
For some reason, I find it much easier to design and style other people’s spaces but when it comes to my own home, it can be a struggle. Our master bedroom, for example, was like an achilles heel in our house. I waited so long to do anything with it (you can read all about that here and see more photos!).
We have also been pretty picky about the pieces we have invested in, especially since we tend to move way to often. 5 times in the past 7 years but that’s another story for another time!
Our best splurge though? A king size bed. We have 2 dogs and a snuggly toddler and I swear this has changed our lives. Also, since I’m almost 9 months pregnant the Snoogle (which I highly recommmend!) has joined us in the bed too. I don’t know how I would sleep without it!
See the little frame that says “Eric”? This may sound silly but we each have one on our bedside tables (mine says “Sam” of course ;)). They were actually given to us as gift tags on a bridal shower gift we received. I loved them so much and had to keep them in! Thanks Cindy!
My favorite part about this house just might be the upstairs bathroom. I can’t take credit for any of the finishes but the previous owners did a beautiful job. Carrera marble countertops, classic fixtures, a mix of white subway and calacatta marble tile in the shower – beautifully done.
Taylor’s nursery is at the top of my list of favorite rooms in the house too! I wrote this post about it soon after we moved in but a few minor things have changed since. I may be the only one to notice but I can also get a little crazy about small details 🙂 Here are a couple snaps of what this tiny, but dreamy nursery looks like.
Our guest room/office was a little challenge for me at first with the layout but we made it work. The room gets a ton of sunlight in the mornings and I wanted to keep this room comfortable for our guests, but also functional for me as an office.
This daybed is a great space saver and pulls out to a full size bed. It’s a great price, but takes a lot of patience and time to assemble. Fair warning! We actually hired a handyman through Taskrabbit to help us out and probably paid too much for it in the end – but if you are handy – good luck!
And that’s a wrap! Our moving date is approaching quickly and almost everything is currently in boxes. We are trying out a service called Redi-box. In case you aren’t familiar, they drop off heavy duty, stackable boxes for you to use then pick them up after your move. They are currently only in Chicago and surrounding suburbs but so far we have had a really great experience with them. Packing is never fun but this service has made it a little easier.
Thank you again Nicole (Cedar & Rush) for taking photos! Don’t forget to check out our house tour part 1 of the upstairs here in case you missed it! Thank you to everyone that sent kind messages and notes!! I love hearing your comments 🙂
