Our bedroom accent wall is DONE!!
One of my goals for 2022 was to redesign our master bedroom and I’m happy to share the latest project we completed~
I may be getting too excited about wallpaper projects lately, but wallpaper can make such a difference in a room, even if it is just in smaller sections. It instantly adds pattern and personality.
I wanted something fun and bold for this wall, but still keeping the calm and serene vibe in our master bedroom. Last month, I shared some of the new furniture, lighting and decor. We literally *lightened* the room up, added matching nightstands with plenty of storage + a rug layered over our carpet. Most of the room was finished but I couldn’t wait to tackle this side of the room too.
The main wall behind the bed is usually where you would see an accent wall. This time, I chose the wall that WE would enjoy the most, which is across from the bed.
Our TV is usually on this wall but I recently styled it for a photoshoot for a collaboration I did with Coastal Living and Universal Furniture. The dresser is from their collection and I’ll be sharing more on my Instagram this week 🙂
I wallpapered the wall myself using this beautiful blue and white wallpaper from Serena and Lily. I was able to do this wall with just ONE roll and a no-paste application method. Details on the method here (I’m so impressed with this trick that I am currently wallpapering our coat closet too!).
Eric from the One Man Woodshop in Geneva, IL installed the frame for us around the wallpaper. We went with a thick crown moulding for the wall which adds a lot of dimension. I love that it looks like a giant piece of art!
The paint for the frame was color-matched to the white shade in the wallpaper. Our wall color is BM Simply white and there just a slight contrast to the frame and wall color which I like.
Here are a couple more pics of how it turned out + source links & favorites for organizing the drawers below. There are 10 soft close drawers on the Beach Bondi dresser which I was so excited to fill up. Even our 5 year old said it looks fancy 🙂

Also, if you are an interior designer, Universal Furniture’s trade program is one of my favorites! Their collection with Coastal Living is beautiful and they have something for every client, every style. This is so clever and turned out beautiful! I’ve always wanted to apply wallpaper in a framed format. Did your painter’s tape + double stick tape method hold up? I have textured walls so I’ve been afraid to try that method you used before. Maybe the paneled technique is the way to go. Great job!!!
I did this in an alcove in my tiny one bed apt 40 yrs ago. Idea just came to me out of the blue. Only papered down about 4 feet and framed it with painted wood trim. The trim held the wallpaper in place. No need to wet the back side. Way ahead of my time, yes?
