Our Bedroom Update

Some of the updates we made in our master bedroom……

In case you missed it, I posted awhile back about our goal to Redesign Our Bedroom. I am finally sharing a few of the updates that we have made. I’ve only had to do a couple things that have made a world of a difference!

Small changes that made a huge difference to our now dreamy bedroom!

Here are a few of the things we did to lighten up our now dreamy bedroom, but first the obligatory before picture…

Cringing? Me too.

First thing we did to brighten up this room:

1. NEW BEDDING

We bought an all white bedding set and a bed skirt which made a huge difference. Then added some decorative pillows and a cozy blanket that we already had.

First thing we changed in our bedroom was the bedding - easy and made a huge difference!

2. HUNG CURTAINS

We pulled up the existing heavy blinds and just use the curtains for privacy.  We have 4 panels total. Two white curtains that cover the windows. Then we added two patterned curtains to extend out on the side of the windows for aesthetic.

This creates an illusion that the windows are larger and also adds a pretty backdrop to the bed.

3. MOVED FURNITURE

The bed is now in front of the windows, which normally I would never do but the light is beautiful in the morning!3. MOVED FURNITURE The bed is now in front of the windows (which normally I would never do but the light is beautiful in the morning!

Did you notice we don’t have a headboard? I was contemplating this for a LONG time but now, I barely think about it.

We never use these stools in the kitchen and didn’t want to splurge on nightstands. The ones I want would cost us a couple hundred which is not in our budget right now. So, we are using counter stools as nightstands and they work perfectly.

Rethinking the function of items we already have has always been a big money saver for us!

4. Added Decorative Accents

My favorite thing we added to our bedroom are these faux cherry blossom stems. I love having real flowers in the house but until I can afford to have arrangements delivered to my house every week, I’ll settle for faux.

My favorite thing we added to our bedroom are these faux cherry blossom stems. Little secret.. I mixed a couple kinds of flowers - one branch cost $12 and the others were $2!! Can you tell?

Our bedroom is the only room in the house that is just for the two of us!  (And does not have to be totally toddler proof!)
