Client Project: Great Room Reveal

I wrapped up this project at the end of last year and am so excited to share how everything turned out! I’m not taking on too many new interior design projects these days while my kids are so little, but this was one I could not pass up. My clients are both local doctors, have the sweetest family, and you may have even recognize them from instagram (or spotted on TV!) ~

I always like the start-the-reveal posts with a couple of BEFORE images. We gave their great room an entire new look, only keeping their existing sectional and TV in place.

I liked the cabinets next to the fireplace, but wanted something grander, so we found another place for those.

The 3 biggest changes for this room that made a huge impact are:

  1. Painting the entire room a shade of white
  2. Replacing all the carpet with hardwood floors. We matched these to the rest of the house which turned out beautifully.
  3. Adding the custom built-in cabinets with a silky grasscloth backing

I also love the impact of the large Visual Comfort chandelier in the center of the room, additional seating, a stylish coffee table, the updated lighting, and all the beautiful accessories that finished the room! đŸ™‚

Including personal items to style the built-ins are always one of my favorite parts. When I asked my clients which items they wanted to include they had saved a teddy bear, ornaments and more to honor their late son. Adding family photos to the room is always a very special part too. The gallery wall with colorful mats was an idea that I’ve used before and I was excited to do it again!

Here’s a progress shot and how the final gallery wall turned out ~ (ps. Save this trick with paper to layout your next gallery wall!)

Here are some more pictures from the final reveal~

All photography is by Erin Konrath Photography. Thank you to my wonderful clients Priscilla (@sarmiesistersweets) and Jay (@gearheadmd) for letting me design this space for your family!
