This may be one of the shortest blog posts yet but I’ve been meaning to share more design projects with you! This patio makeover was for a friend who lives in Chicago with her three kiddos.
Since it was towards the end of the summer season and we were on a tight timeline, I found many items locally (most on clearance!) but I’ll link a few that I found online. I’m sharing details on the the design process and source list below too!
Let’s start with the floor plan.
I always like to create a floor plan first for any new project. This way, I know everything I source will fit. I also use this as I create a shopping list. The first option (which I didn’t save) had a sectional but we went with an alternative option afterwards.
Here, the shopping list included:
- Outdoor sofa
- Coffee or accent tables
- 2 accent chairs
Next comes the fun part – the style board!
With 2 lightweight chairs and a longer sofa, the space is very versatile which is great for a family or someone who likes to entertain. My friends family just had their 3rd baby so extra room to play is ideal! The chairs and accent tables are easily moved around to make more open space.
The original style board changed a bit after finding most items locally or had quick ship. For a typical project, I get a style board approved and then start shopping. My friend had given me almost free reign so I bought a lot on the spot, then revised the style board.
Here is the revised style board:
And since before and afters are always fun, here’s a picture of the BEFORE:
I only took a couple quick photos of the space while installing it but we were waiting on the middle piece of the sectional.
After it arrived, this is the photo my friend sent me from her phone!
I usually design interior spaces but loved doing this patio makeover. I hope to do more in the Spring so let me know if you’d like to reserve a spot! I haven’t had a chance to style my friends patio for photos yet but I will be including styling sessions as well for clients!
